The Ritom Funicular will reopen to the public on Saturday, May 16, 2026. As every year, the start of the summer season is marked by the “Stairways to Heaven Vertical” event. On Saturday, May 9, the Firefighter Challenge will take place, while on Sunday, May 10, runners will take on the 4,261 steps of the route.
The Ritom Funicular, with its steep slope, is one of the steepest in the world and leads to the beautiful Ritom-Piora region. It is a perfect starting point for many walks in unspoiled nature, rich in alpine flora. In summer, visitors can also explore Alpe Piora, where around 250 animals graze during the alpine season and the famous cheese is produced. You can also visit the Alpine Biology Centre and the ham aging cellar.
